We take our classes to Casino Point at Avalon, Catalina Island.
Due to our coastal conditions, PADI’s safety standards and the uncertainty that we can even dive, we have decided to only focus on the usual great conditions on the island itself. This way we are not wasting everyone’s time to get to the beach just to turn around and go home and we usually do not have to constantly reschedule beach classes.
This does mean extra expenses for the ferry and the hotel if we do a weekend, or the double ferry if we do a day trip for 2 weekends, which is paid by RC Scuba but you are almost guaranteed that conditions a favorable most of the time to dive.
The weekend poses extra fees for the students such as parking at the ferry landing which is $18 per day, 5 air fills at $8 per fill, and restaurant food although the suites do have a kitchen and there are 2 Vons nearby.
If the hotel requires a 2-night minimum, then the extra night’s cost is split amongst the students.
When not diving, we also can partake in the activities that the island has to offer such as snorkeling, zip lining, clubbing and dancing.
